
Robin Baggett
Born and raised in Salinas, Robin Baggett made a lasting impact at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo on and off the field. On the field he was a two-time All-Conference catcher and MVP. He had no passed balls, threw out 75 percent of base stealers and caught two no-hitters on a team that had an ERA of 1.96 with 12 shutouts and .780 winning percentage. He was a three-sport all-league athlete at Salinas, and was All-Conference and team captain of Hartnell’s 1967 Hall of Fame football team. In 1998 he was inducted into the Cal Poly Hall of Fame and in 2001 Cal Poly named its baseball stadium Baggett Field. He was a Cal Poly student body president, attended Hastings Law School, and clerked for the California Supreme Court and US District Court. In his 40-year law career he spent 8 years as the Golden State Warriors General Counsel. At age 40 he became a team roper and competed in the Salinas Rodeo and was a 4-time reserve All-Around champion of the Rancheros Visitadores rodeo.
