Mike Maker
Mike Maker was a play-making point guard who helped lead North Salinas High to its first CCS basketball championship in 1984. In that same season he was named All-MBL, All-Northern California and to the All-State Tournament Team. In 1994 Maker was inducted into the North Salinas High Hall of Fame.
Maker was captain of the Hartnell basketball team for both years and captain of Cal Baptist for two more years. He earned Academic All-American honors his senior year.
Following his playing career, Maker spent three decades coaching collegiate basketball. His successes were highlighted at Williams College where he coached the Ephs to three Final Four appearances and two National Championship games.
In 2010 he was named Basketball Times Co-Coach of the Year. As an assistant coach, Maker made stops at Darthmouth, Samford, Creighton, St.Thomas and West Virginia–with the Mountaineers reaching the 2006 Sweet 16 and winning the 2007 NIT title in Madison Square Garden.
