Lauren Schutzler Palmer
From the moment Lauren Schutzler stepped on the Notre Dame High softball field she was an impact player. She was the Central Coast Section softball Freshman of the Year, all-CCS as a sophomore and junior, a 3-time All-State selection and a two-time high school All-American. She was the second leading hitter in Tri-County area as a freshman and led the Tri-County in hitting her sophomore and junior season. In her junior year she was The Salinas Californian and Monterey Herald softball Player of the Year. She missed all but five games her senior season after breaking her ankle in a basketball game, but still delivered a game-winning, pinch-hit single in her first at-bat after being cleared to play again. As a heavily recruited player by most every top 25 college program she chose the University of Arizona and became a four-year centerfielder and made three appearances in the College World Series. She was a four-time All-Pac 12 and All-West Regional selection and was a top-10 conference leader in batting average all four years at Arizona – top five as a junior and senior. She finished with a career batting average of .393 with 285 hits and 210 runs scored. She was selected to the USA Softball Elite Team, the USA National Team and the ASA 18-under National Champion Team.
