Jennifer Barrett

Gonzales High graduate Jennifer Barrett was at her best when the competition was the best. At the XI Paralympaid in Sydney, Australia, a multi-disability sports competition at the most elite level. Barrett won a silver and bronze medal in the discus and shot put, respectively. In the 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games she set the then world and U.S. record in the shot put, and at the 1998 International Paralympics won gold medals in the discus and shot put. During her career Barrett won every major field competition available to amputees. In the 1999 Para-American games she was a triple gold medalist and in 2000 was a silver and bronze medalist.
