Hal Davis

Known as the “California Comet,” Davis rivaled Jesse Owens as the world’s fastest human in the early 1940s. Between 1940 and 1943, the Live Oak High School and Salinas Junior College star was undefeated in the 220 and lost just once in the 100. Davis moved on to the University of California after Salinas JC. Famous for his closing kick, he won three national 100-meter crowns and four titles at 200 meters.
